Our rehearsal season typically runs September through April, with approximately 5-6 live performances scheduled throughout.

Our players have a wide range of abilities and experience. At the very least, you will need to be able to read music and rhythms.

Our music director, Clark Chaffee, has developed a wonderful curriculum called the "Chaffee Core Musicianship Program" to assist any members that may need to "refresh" their skills.

We have members ranging from college students to retirees and beyond. All ages are welcome!

The West Valley Wind Ensemble rehearses on Monday evenings 7-9pm at the Shepherd of the Hills United Methodist Church in Sun City West, AZ.

• Your own instrument

  • Percussion instruments are provided by the band, but percussionists may need to provide some of their own mallets/drumsticks.

• All accessories required for your instrument (oil, grease, reeds, mutes, etc.)

• A music stand/stand light (if needed)

• A pencil

• Concert Uniform (all black)

• Your own music (print or digital)

You will need to attend weekly rehearsals and all performances. The performance calendar will be shared with members at the beginning of the season to allow for planning. A volunteer schedule will be shared with members to help with setup/teardown for rehearsals.

We also ask that members practice their music outside of rehearsal as needed to ensure they are positively contributing to the overall sound of the group.

No, we do not ask members to audition for the band. We trust that you are already a capable musician!

Membership dues are usually collected by our Treasurer during the first few rehearsals of each season.

While we are working to accept online payments for dues in the future, for now, only cash or check payments are accepted.

Membership fees are as follows:

• $50 for participation in the full concert season (due in September)

• $30 for participation in half of the concert season (due in Sept or Jan, depending on join date)
